Quality Control Inspector

SUMMARY:

Works under minimum supervision to inspect and/or test parts, sub-assemblies and/or finished products for all product lines as needed. Updates computerized system information, completes work order and inspection paperwork, communicates (verbal & written) with various departments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sets-up, checks and visually inspects production components, sub-assemblies and finished products, including mechanical, electro-mechanical and light-source components and products, for conformance production schematics, specifications and/or blueprints
  • Performs burn-in of instruments and/or bulbs, including loading into and unloading bulbs from test fixture
  • Uses standard inspection devices and/or testing equipment, including but not limited to: Vernier calipers, multi-meters and chart recorders
  • Inform area supervisors and/or managers of quality issues and process suggestions
  • Process and effectively evaluate customer returns and quality problems
  • Ensure inspection tools, gages and special measuring devices are calibrated for accuracy
  • Assist supervisor in writing and reviewing procedures for testing and quality standards
  • Updates computerized system information
  • Completes work order and inspection paperwork.
  • Evaluate and process customer returns and repairs
  • Performs other duties as assigned, in own or other departments

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum 2 years electro-mechanical inspection experience, preferably in an ISO certified environment. Experience testing UV or other light sources helpful.

Requires ability to read blueprints and written specifications to perform all required inspection criteria, good eye-hand coordination and depth perception, attention to detail, ability to perform inspections using manual and power test equipment, fixtures and gages with accurate results.

Must be proficient with use of computer and computer software systems, including Word and Excel. Minimum data-entry speed of 30 wpm, 10-key by touch helpful.

Requires ability to effectively read, speak and write in the English language, including email communication. Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to work and communicate effectively with production personnel and staff from other departments.

Requires inspection, calipers and some experience testing electrical devices. Electrical experience a plus. Requires good written and oral communication skills. Able to efficiently operate a computer. Able to work in a manufacturing environment.

Must be able to safely lift up to 25 lbs. Must be able to stand or sit more than 50 percent of the work shift as needed.
